Acton Main Line: TfL announces a series of Elizabeth line service gaps

Transport for London has published an updated list of planned station works and closures. For passengers in Acton, the key information concerns Acton Main Line: Elizabeth line trains will not stop at the station during several periods this autumn.

The first change is due on Saturday 26 September. According to information updated by TfL on 14 September, Elizabeth line trains will stop calling at Acton Main Line after 10pm. Anyone planning a late journey home should therefore check their route before setting off, rather than waiting until they reach the station.

A further restriction is scheduled for the weekend of 3–4 October. Trains will not stop at Acton Main Line from 11pm on Saturday until 9am on Sunday. The station is then due to be skipped by Elizabeth line services throughout Sunday 18 October.

Later dates include the night of Saturday 31 October into Sunday 1 November and the weekend of 12–13 December. On both occasions, trains are not expected to stop after 11pm on Saturday or at any time on Sunday. TfL also lists Sunday 3 January as a day when Elizabeth line trains will not call at Acton Main Line.

These changes do not mean the whole line will be closed. They mean that this particular station will not be served during the stated periods. That distinction matters: a train may continue to run through west London while passing Acton Main Line without stopping. Passengers travelling with luggage or a buggy, or anyone who requires a step-free route, should check every part of an alternative journey before leaving home.

TfL says information about station works changes frequently. Before each of the listed dates, passengers should check again using the TfL Go app or Journey Planner. The planned works page also links to information about line closures, service changes and rail replacement buses. This will help passengers confirm whether their chosen train will stop at Acton Main Line and how much extra time they may need.

The first disruption is now less than two weeks away. Residents who normally use late evening services on Saturday 26 September should note the date and confirm the latest timetable shortly before travelling.

TfL's page is a list of planned works, not a live disruption notice. That means passengers can take the dates into account in advance, but they should still check the line status immediately before travelling. The same page provides a separate link to live disruption information.

The updated list also includes Hanwell and West Ealing. For the weekends of 3–4 October, 18 October, 31 October–1 November, 12–13 December and 3 January, TfL shows similar periods when Elizabeth line trains will not call. Residents transferring between these stations should therefore check the whole journey rather than only the departure point.
