Autumn photo competition opens across Ealing: how to enter
The autumn Seasons of Ealing photography competition is open until midday on 2 November. Residents must submit an original local image of at least 1MB and include contact details, a description and any necessary permissions.
Residents across the borough of Ealing can now submit photographs for the autumn round of the Seasons of Ealing competition. Organisers are looking for images that capture the colours, people and atmosphere of the season in local parks, streets and community events. The deadline for entries is midday on Monday 2 November 2026.
Photographs should be emailed to aroundealing@ealing.gov.uk, with “Seasons of Ealing autumn” in the subject line. Each entry must include the photographer’s name, postal address and telephone number, together with a short description explaining what the image shows, when it was taken and where in the borough it was captured.
There are also technical and rights-related conditions. The file must be at least 1MB and suitable for reproduction online and in print. Entrants must confirm that they took the photograph themselves. If identifiable people appear in the picture, the photographer must have their permission to enter it. The image must have been taken within the borough of Ealing during the past 12 months. Entries that do not meet these conditions may be disqualified.
After submissions close, organisers will select a shortlist and invite the public to vote. The three photographs receiving the most votes will then go to a judging panel, which will choose the overall winner. The result is due to be announced in the next edition of Around Ealing magazine.
By entering, photographers agree that their image may be reproduced in Around Ealing magazine, on the website and through the council’s social media channels. There is no payment for publication, although the photographer will be credited. Organisers also warn that they will not be able to reply individually to everyone who enters.
The autumn competition was announced alongside the results of the summer round. The winner received two tickets for Ealing Picturehouse, while each of the other two finalists received one cinema ticket. The competition therefore offers local recognition and publication rather than a cash prize. Chris van Dyk won with a close-up photograph of a bumblebee covered in pollen in Pitshanger Park. He is the first photographer in the competition’s history to win twice in succession. The other two finalists showed children enjoying dinosaur sculptures in Pear Tree Park, Perivale, and a crane overlooking Brent Valley golf course at sunset.
For anyone planning to enter, three checks are especially important before pressing send: confirm where and when the photograph was taken, make sure permission has been obtained from recognisable people, and verify that the image file meets the required quality and size. Completing those checks should help ensure that an entry satisfies the basic competition rules.
