Ealing Broadway Centre Post Office to close on 4 January: alternatives explained

Post Office has confirmed that its branch inside TG Jones at Ealing Broadway Centre will close. The final date is 4 January 2027, with two West Ealing branches listed as alternatives.

Do you use the Post Office inside Ealing Broadway Centre? The branch operating within TG Jones at 39–42 Ealing Broadway Centre is due to close on Monday 4 January 2027. Post Office announced the change in an official notification opened on 6 October.

The company describes the change as an unplanned closure. It follows a restructuring plan affecting some stores operated by retail partner TG Jones. Post Office says maintaining a service in Ealing is important and that it has begun reviewing applications from parties interested in running a branch. However, no replacement site or opening date has yet been announced.

What is confirmed

Until 4 January, the branch at The Broadway remains listed in the official branch finder. Its current opening hours are 9am to 6pm from Monday to Saturday and 11am to 3pm on Sunday. Post Office warns that branch hours can change, so customers making a special journey should check again before travelling.

The official letter identifies two nearby alternatives. West Ealing Post Office is at 187 Uxbridge Road, about 0.9 miles from the closing branch. It is open from 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 1pm on Saturday.

The second option is Leeland Road Post Office at 49 Broadway in West Ealing, approximately 1.1 miles away. It opens from 8.15am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday, 8.15am to 5pm on Friday and 8.15am to 1pm on Saturday. Both alternative branches are closed on Sundays and, according to the notification, offer a similar range of services.

How to prepare

People who regularly use postal or banking services should check before January which alternative branch can handle the transaction they need. Post Office notes that limits for some transactions should be confirmed directly with the branch postmaster.

Questions or comments can be sent to the National Consultation Team at comments@postoffice.co.uk. The company says it will provide another update when it has news about future service provision.

The key date for customers is 4 January 2027. At present, residents should not assume that a replacement branch will open before then or at the same location. The closure date and the two alternatives in West Ealing are confirmed; the longer-term arrangement remains undecided.

Customers can also use the official branch finder for current opening hours and other nearby locations. That check will become especially important over the Christmas and New Year period, when individual branches may operate different hours.
