Free school uniforms in Ealing can now be reserved online

Ealing Council and Uniformd have launched a click-and-collect service for pre-loved school uniform. Families can check stock online, reserve the items they need and collect them free of charge in Acton or Northfields.

Families in Ealing can now browse free pre-loved school uniform online, reserve the sizes they need and choose a collection point. Ealing Council announced its partnership with the Uniformd platform on 15 October, bringing part of the borough’s school uniform reuse project into a click-and-collect service.

The council says it is the first UK local authority to list free uniform stock on Uniformd. The project page allows people to check available items before leaving home. This is not a postal delivery service: reserved items must be collected from one of the participating locations.

Two collection points to begin with

Orders can currently be collected from ReActon Hub on Stirling Road, Acton, W3 8DJ. Collection hours are Mondays from 11am to 2pm and Fridays from noon to 3pm. The second location is Northfields Community Library on Northfield Avenue, W5 4UA. It handles collections on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 7pm, Wednesdays from 11am to 5pm and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.

The council plans to add more collection points. Families should check the ActForEaling page before reserving or travelling, because locations and opening times may change and the choice of clothing depends on current donations.

Stock includes branded and unbranded primary and secondary school uniform, including shirts, skirts, trousers, jumpers, sportswear, footwear, backpacks and school bags. The project began in August 2025. Figures published by the organisers say that by February 2026 it had helped more than 265 families, kept more than 800 items in use, avoided nearly 1.98 tonnes of carbon-dioxide-equivalent emissions and saved more than 330,000 litres of water.

How to donate unwanted uniform

The project continues to accept clean uniform in good condition, as well as clothes hangers. Drop-off points operate at libraries in Greenford, Hanwell, Northfields, Northolt, Perivale and Southall, and at ReActon. Donors should check opening hours with each venue before travelling. A family does not have to donate anything in order to collect needed items: people may give, take, or do both.

Families can also use the free stock at Greenford Library, where the project says they may take up to five uniform items per child. Uniform is available there on Tuesdays from 11am to 5pm, Wednesdays from 10am to 2pm and Thursdays from 1pm to 5pm. This is separate from the online collection service in Acton and Northfields, and the choice likewise depends on what residents have donated. Further pop-up sessions are planned outside Manor House Cafe in Southall on 31 October and 28 November, from 10am to noon. The sessions are open to anyone looking for uniform and offer both branded and generic items.

The online service cannot guarantee a particular size or school logo. Its practical benefit is that families can see what is available and reserve items before making the journey. ActForEaling carries the latest information and the link to the online shop.
