Greenford Library opens council help without appointments
Residents can visit the Community Hub at Greenford Library on Tuesdays and Wednesdays without booking first. Staff can help with online forms, council services and referrals to other local support.
Do you need an appointment to get face-to-face council help at Greenford Library? According to Ealing Council’s latest announcement, you no longer do. Since 7 October, the Community Hub on the library’s first floor in Oldfield Lane South has accepted walk-in visitors on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
What the hub can help with
Community Hub staff can help residents complete online applications, explain council services and direct people to other local organisations when more specialist support is needed. It is not a counter dedicated to one department. The hub is intended as a first point of contact for people who are unsure which service they need or who cannot complete the whole process online.
The new arrangement means a resident can visit Greenford Library on a Tuesday or Wednesday and speak to a member of staff without a pre-booked slot. Previously, this location operated by appointment only. The council says the change should make support easier to access closer to home and reduce pressure on busier locations.
What to check before travelling
The council’s newest article confirms the walk-in days, but its main Community Hubs location page was still showing the older appointment-only wording when checked. That page listed opening sessions of 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Because the two pages had not yet been fully aligned, residents making an urgent journey should check the latest announcement or contact the council first. This is particularly important for anyone who needs a specific service or plans to arrive near the end of a session.
Accessibility also needs attention. The council’s location page states that the Greenford hub is on the first floor and that there is no lift. Anyone unable to use stairs should choose another Community Hub or ask the council to identify an accessible alternative before travelling.
Other hubs across the borough
The council also lists hubs at Acton Library, Ealing Central Library, Northolt Library, Perivale Community Library, Southall Library, Northfields Community Library and West Ealing Community Library. Opening times vary by location. The council describes Ealing Central Library as the busiest hub, while the others usually have shorter queues and provide the same level of service.
Greenford Library has operated as a community-managed library since October 2025. Local volunteers run it in partnership with the Young Ealing Foundation and Ealing Council. The new walk-in service expands its role beyond books, computers and activities by making the building a more direct access point for public support.
