Perivale: eight-week consultation opens on a new town centre
Residents, businesses and community groups have until 18 December to help define priorities for a potential town centre around Perivale Station. The council says no development proposal or design has yet been decided.
Ealing Council has opened an eight-week consultation on the future of a potential town centre for Perivale. Residents, people who work locally, businesses and community groups can submit their views until 18 December 2026. This is an early exercise to identify local needs, not a consultation on a finished development proposal.
Perivale is the only one of Ealing borough’s seven town areas without a clearly defined centre. According to the council, more than 400 people raised this as an important issue during engagement carried out in 2023. The possibility of creating a local centre has since been recognised in Ealing’s Local Plan, with the area around Perivale Station emerging as a potential location because of its public transport connections.
What is being considered
There is no building proposal, fixed list of uses or design for a new centre at this stage. The council says no decisions have been made about what might be built, what services or activities it could provide, or how it would look. Instead, the consultation asks about everyday priorities such as green space, community facilities, housing, better connections and places where residents can spend time together.
That early scope matters. Responses are intended to help the council decide which issues and opportunities should guide any options developed later. People can therefore describe both the improvements they would like and the problems they experience now: missing services, difficult walking routes, poorly connected places or activities that Perivale does not currently offer. The online survey can be completed without reading the supporting papers, although the project page also provides a placemaking framework and a wider vision document for Greenford and Perivale.
How to take part
The first phase, described as “early conversations”, began on 22 October and runs until 11.59pm on Friday 18 December. The survey is available through the Have Your Say Ealing platform. The council also plans public drop-in sessions in Perivale during November, with dates to be posted on the project page. People who want notifications can follow the project on that page.
When the survey and local engagement have closed, the feedback will be used to develop possible approaches. The council says findings will be shared with local people in 2027, when a second phase will explore options. A later third phase is intended to shape a proposal.
The current consultation should therefore not be read as approval for a particular building scheme. It is a chance to influence the brief before detailed options exist. For residents who have views about local services, public space, housing or movement around Perivale Station, responding now is the most direct way to make those priorities part of the evidence considered next year.
