Police seek footage after fatal collision on South Road in Southall

The Metropolitan Police are appealing for footage and information after a fatal collision on South Road in Southall. The incident happened at 1.04am on Saturday, 19 September. According to the police statement, one vehicle, a Ford Mustang, was involved.

Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade. Despite the efforts of paramedics, a 17-year-old passenger died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers. A second passenger, a 26-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and remained in hospital when the police statement was published.

Police said the 20-year-old driver was arrested at the scene. He was later charged with offences including causing death by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and using a vehicle without insurance. He appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 21 September. He was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at the Old Bailey on 19 October. The charges remain subject to court proceedings.

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is continuing to establish the full circumstances. Investigators want to speak to anyone who saw the collision, the manner of driving immediately beforehand, or the movements of the Ford Mustang in the Southall area during the early hours of 19 September.

CCTV, doorbell, mobile-phone and dashcam recordings may be particularly important. People should not assume that somebody else has already submitted the same view. Even a short clip showing the vehicle before the collision could help investigators reconstruct its route and timing. That gives residents and businesses near South Road and neighbouring streets a practical reason to check recordings from Friday night into Saturday morning before systems automatically overwrite them.
