Starting primary school in September 2027: Ealing reminds parents to apply

An Ealing Council reminder published on 29 October sets out the primary admissions timetable. Here is who should apply, how preferences work and where families can get help.

Will your child start primary school in September 2027? Ealing Council issued a reminder on 29 October about the application round already under way. This is not a newly opened scheme: applications have been accepted since 1 September. Families have until 15 January 2027 to submit their forms.

Who needs to apply?

Children born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023 are due to start Reception in September 2027. The same council application page also covers children in Year 2 at an infant school who will move to junior school. Check which stage applies before selecting a form rather than treating every application as the same type of transfer.

Applications are made through eAdmissions, where parents first need an account. The council also provides its 2027 admissions prospectus and a list of school open days. These are useful starting points when comparing schools before submitting an application.

Putting schools in order

Borough residents can list up to six schools in preference order, including schools outside Ealing but excluding private schools. There will be one offer, from the highest-ranked school able to offer a place. For faith schools, check the additional supplementary information form and return it directly to the school before the deadline. For a school outside the borough, read its admissions rules in the relevant council’s prospectus.

After submitting the application

Results for on-time applications will be released on 16 April 2027. Online applicants will receive an email that evening. Families must accept or decline the offered place by 30 April. Without a response, the offer may be withdrawn and the place given to another child.

A child who does not receive an offer from a higher-preference school will automatically join that school’s waiting list. The council says it will not provide waiting-list positions before 14 May. Late applications are considered only after national offer day.

Where to ask for help

The primary and secondary admissions team can be contacted at mainroundadmissions@ealing.gov.uk. Its telephone number, 020 8825 5511, operates between 9am and midday. The service’s address is Perceval House, 14–16 Uxbridge Road, Ealing, W5 2HL. These are the office’s contact details, not confirmation that an unbooked visit is available.

When writing, specify whether the question concerns starting Reception in September 2027 or transferring from infant to junior school. The council lists a separate email address for in-year admissions: in-yearadmissions@ealing.gov.uk. Making that distinction should help direct the enquiry to the appropriate team.
