Trailfinders Women end the group stage with Isa Prins debut and returning players

Trailfinders Women visit Gloucester-Hartpury today in their final JAECOO PWR Next Gen Cup group match. The squad includes debutant Isa Prins, with Niamh Swailes named captain.

Trailfinders Women visit Gloucester-Hartpury today at 2pm for their final JAECOO PWR Next Gen Cup group-stage match. The Ealing club published its squad on 16 October, announcing several returning players and a club debut for Isa Prins.

Niamh Swailes will captain the side from hooker. Cassandra Tuffnail and Tanya Kalounivale are selected either side of her in the front row. Tuffnail returns to the starting team, while the trio will provide the foundation for the pack.

Teya Ashworth and Gabby Brown are named in the second row. The most notable change in the back row is Prins’s first appearance for Trailfinders. The Netherlands international starts at number six. Jade Betsen is selected at openside flanker and Scarlet Down completes the unit at number eight.

Brooke Bradley and Claire Gallagher form the half-back partnership. Gallagher returns at fly-half after a spell with Canada at WXV, where she played mainly at full-back. Charlotte Brookes returns in midfield alongside Jess Cooksey, who will face her former club.

In the back three, Grace White is set for her first appearance of the season, Ruby Tui starts on the other wing and Rosie Inman is selected at full-back. The club noted that Inman comes into the game after being named player of the match against Harlequins.

The coaches have chosen a bench split of five forwards and three backs. Amanda McQuade, Maya Montiel, Flo Long, Jas Adonri and Annabel Meta provide the forward cover. Poppy Love, Isla Apiafi and Poppy Symons complete the matchday squad.

For supporters in Ealing, the fixture is a chance to follow the team’s final group test before the next stage of the competition. The official club listing confirms a 2pm start and an away match against Gloucester-Hartpury. Because this article is being published before kick-off, it makes no claim about the result or the eventual group standings.

The main selection points are Prins’s club debut, Tuffnail’s return to the starting XV, White’s first appearance of the season and Gallagher’s move back to fly-half. Those changes will shape how Trailfinders divide the work between their pack and backs in the final group match.

The selection also gives the team several different options from the bench. With five replacement forwards, Trailfinders can refresh the pack during a demanding away fixture, while Love, Apiafi and Symons give the coaches cover across the back line. The balance reflects the practical demands of a final group-stage contest without predicting how the game will unfold.
