Up to £10,000 for warmer community buildings in Ealing

Community and faith organisations in Ealing can apply for grants of up to £10,000 for improvements that reduce energy costs. Applications to the Better Spaces Fund close on 15 November.

Community and faith organisations working across the borough of Ealing can apply for grants of up to £10,000 to improve the energy efficiency of their buildings. A total of £100,000 is available in the latest round of the Better Spaces Fund, with applications closing on 15 November 2026.

What the funding can cover

The fund is intended to reduce building running costs, improve comfort for users and help premises cope with more extreme weather. Ealing Council lists measures including solar panels, insulation, double glazing, heat pumps, LED lighting upgrades, solar film for windows, shutters and awnings.

The scheme is open to community and faith groups using local buildings. If the fund is oversubscribed, priority will be given to eligible organisations in Northolt, Southall and Greenford. That does not restrict applications to those three areas: qualifying groups from across the borough can still apply.

What earlier projects show

West Acton Community Centre in Churchill Gardens is among the organisations supported in previous rounds. The centre, which hosts activities for different age groups, received £4,488 to replace old windows with double glazing. According to the council, the work reduced draughts and heat loss, improved comfort and lowered bills.

Acton Baptist Church also received support and installed 18 solar panels. The council says the project has reduced the building’s running costs.

More than £165,000 has been awarded under the programme so far, when it was previously known as Community Climate Grants. Community organisations have added more than £100,000 in investment from other sources to the funded projects.

How to prepare an application

Before completing the form, organisations should read the application guide on Ealing Council’s website and check the programme criteria. A strong application should clearly describe the proposed improvement, its cost and how it is expected to reduce energy use or make the building more resilient to hot and cold weather.

Applications opened on 22 September and will remain open until 15 November. The guide and application link are available on the council’s Better Spaces webpage. Organisations considering work such as glazing, insulation or renewable energy should allow enough time to assemble realistic costs and explain the practical benefit to people who use the building.

The fund is aimed at physical improvements rather than general operating expenses. Applicants should therefore connect the requested amount to a defined building project and follow the published guidance before submitting it.
