September outside Perivale: POSK opens its doors, Wajda on the screen, jazz until the end of the month

On September 12, Polonia will be at the stadium in Perivale. On the same day - and throughout the week - Hammersmith is throwing a festival that POSK hasn't put together in one block for a long time. Plus Open House and Polish Jazz Festival.

POSK - Polish Social and Cultural Centre, 238–246 King Street, Hammersmith, W6 0RF - not in Ealing. However, it lies on the same axis that the Polish community of west London has been driving for generations: Ealing Broadway → Hammersmith.

1st Festival of Polish Culture on the Isles: September 12–20, 2026.

Organized by POSK and the Ideadalnia Foundation. The announcement includes: workshops, exhibitions, a review of Andrzej Wajda's films with lectures, theater, a poetry slam, a Radio POSK radio play, and meetings with artists. Tickets and event network: posk.org and @posklondon channel.

Open House Festival: September 12 and 13.

POSK opens what is not normally visible from King Street: the Polish Library, Jazz Cafe, theater, gallery, restaurants. Tours. It's that rare moment when you can go in with a neighbor who "heard there's a Polish house there" and show him the reading room instead of just the bar.

Polish Jazz Festival London: September 11–27.

Among others Cadogan Hall. A different audience than the festival one, a different register - but in the September calendar, Polonia and the London jazz scene meet in the same window.

For a reader from Northolt or Greenford, the practical schedule of the weekend of September 12-13 looks like this: Saturday at the festival in Perivale, Sunday 1:00 p.m. thanksgiving mass on Windsor Road, and if you have the strength - evening or Sunday afternoon at POSK at the Open House. The Central Line makes it one day, not three trips.

In September, there is one more date from a different register: September 20, at 11:00, Westminster Abbey - service of thanksgiving for the 86th anniversary of the Battle of England. After Friday's tribute at Northolt (August 29), this is the second part of the same sentence.
