Ofgem confirmed the ceiling for October 1 – December 31, 2026. A typical gas and electricity farm, Direct Debit payment: from £1,663 a year to 1723. An increase of 60 pounds, or 4 percent. Standard credit: 1861. Prepaid counter: 1678. Electricity alone, no gas: less than 1 percent increase. Gas: plus 8 percent. From October 1 to March 31, 2027, VAT on electricity drops from 5 percent to zero. 5 percent remains on the gas. Without this relief, the ceiling would be about 45 pounds higher. The government counts savings on electricity at an average of 45 pounds per year. The relief comes on its own, also on the fixed tariff and on the pre-payment top-up. Warm Home Discount in winter: around 6 million homes, £150 off electricity, usually automatically if there is a UC, Pension Credit or Housing Benefit. Rates since October (country average, Direct Debit): current 26.32 p/kWh and 54.83 p constant per day; gas 7.97 p/kWh and 29.68 p per day. Regions vary. A house with a gas boiler will feel a raise. A studio apartment only on electricity — almost not. Check that the courier has selected Warm Home Discount before winter.
